Support of Bill 79
Aloha mai kakou,
My name is Hawane Rios am I am writing in strong support of Bill 79. I was raised to know
that we have a divine connection to the Mother Earth and that it is our responsibility to
protect our land and water resources . As human beings we have the innate ability to know
when something is not in complete and sacred alignment with the body, the mind, the
spirit, the earth and the oceans . To change the genetic integrity of our main life source,
our food, is not only incredibly disrespectful to our birthright to farm and eat safely
from this land, it is not only the genocide but the ecocide of this precious planet and
all so her children. This issue isn 't centered around race or culture, it effects all
people of all histories and places.
To soak the earth in pesticides and chemicals and allow it to run off into our rivers and
streams is not sustainable and it is definitely not progress. To feed masses of people GM0
food products that have not been throughly tested without their knowing and consent is
wildly underhanded and unjust . Hawaii has a bountiful ecosystem that historically
sustained a people that understood of the divine interconnectedness that we share with
each other and the Mother Earth. Hawaii could be the example of sustainable and organic
Farming rather than the GMO testing center for large corporations like Monsanto and Dow.
believe that amending this Bill to keep GM0 farming From Hawaii Island all together is
right and just .
