Poindexter, Council Member District 1 SUBJECT: Certificate of Recognition Presentation for Council Meeting I am requesting your approval to present a certificate on August 7, 2013, during the Council meeting. Rural South Hilo Community Association would also want to present a certificate to the same recipient at the same time. The recipient will be recognized for his devotion and generosity to the community. Mr. Wayne Subica, born and raised in Ola'a, has been collecting plantation memorabilia since 1964. He is a 1961 graduate of St. Joseph High School and a 1963 graduate of Hilo Technical School, (UH Hilo). He has worked for the state from 1964—2000 in the Soil Conservation Department. Mr. Subica has opened the Hawaii Plantation Museum in Papaikou exhibiting his plantation memorabilia. His intent is to educate and commemorate the memories of a cherished lifestyle and culture. In doing so, he has enlivened our island communities with the "Spirit of Aloha". The recipient will be in attendance to accept his certificate. We expect to take approximately ten(10)minutes at the Council Meeting. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact or e-mail my office.
