Subject: I SUPPORT BILL 79!
Dear Council Members,
I SUPPORT BILL 79,which would ban GMO from being planted on Hawai'i island.
Remaining GMO-free is something to brag about and can bring about greater revenue for our island, in addition to
protecting the health of our communities and our children. These benefits include preserving GMO-free varieties of
vegetables and future GMO crops which remain GMO-free here.As more of the evidence mounts for the toxicity of
GMO foods and their production, the Big Island can boast itself as the only Hawai'I island that is GMO-free.This would
attract tourists and those who come to Hawai'l to enjoy the purity and sanctity of the `aina here. Seed breeders who
want to develop seeds without risk of being contaminated by GMO varieties will find Hawai'i Island a lucrative bastion
for such endeavors. Besides these, many other advantages by remaining uniquely non-GMO are sure to be realized
Thank you!
