Please read my testimony in the email below. I am resending it because I sent it on Monday and it bounced
back because of an overload to your email system. In fact hundreds of testimony was sent to you but not
received due to problems with your email capacity. This is truly disheartening.

Subject: Bill 79: GMO
My Dear Council Members,
Please read the entirety of this text.
I am writing to ask you to Support Bill 79 and ban GMO from our beautiful Big Island.
Please vote YES for Bill 79!
I want to acknowledge the courage it takes for all of you in this moment when there is pressure on
both sides. But this is a historic moment and it is important that you do indeed find the courage to
preserve our precious aina and the health of all for generations to come. I put my trust in you that
you will do so.
Additionally, it is important for you, the council members, to be creative and resourceful in finding
ways to support the farmers and those involved in GMOs in transitioning to a non-GMO
livelihood. Of course transitions are hard. They need and deserve support-this can be done. Please
respond to their needs through the necessary transition. In this way you can be the most pono and
yet do what is absolutely imperative - ban GMOs.
I know that you have been flooded with the scientific information that is being respected all
around the world where many countries and communities have banned GMOs so I will not go into
that as you are already educated on those facts.
Your leadership is vitally important.
You must meet this historically pivotal time and Vote For Bill 79 and Ban GMOs.
Please have the courage to do so and feel proud of the leadership you have taken.
