Subject: Testimony regarding Bill 79
Council Members,
I am sending this email to testify my support for Bill 79 against all Genetically Modified Organisms in
Hawaii. I am the owner of a small natural organic homestead, Hale Ho'okipa Farms. I believe strongly
that organic produce and fruit is more valuable and healthy than non organic and GMO products. I am
involved with my friends, neighbors and community to promote sustainability on a neighborhood level.
I believe that GMO is not safe and has not been tested to see the results of use after long periods of time.
We do not know the effect of GMO on humans or our own microorganisms. There have not been
enough long term studies. We must plan for future generations and not think of immediate ease in weed,
bug and blight control.
Who are we, as humans, to meddle with natures divine intelligence? We must care for our islands and
have trust that nature is more sophisticated than agrochemical corporations and lobbyists.
