Subject: Support Bill 79
As a beekeeper and I farmer with livestock, I urge you to support this bill to promote safe food for our
island and our sustainability.
Trying to feed my livestock organic non-gmo food, I have to buy $80 of organic feed, that's 2 bags of
401bs @ $40 each, a month to feed my under 20 flock of chickens. I spend $80 a month to get eggs to
feed my family a month! If I fed them GMO food it would cost me less than half that a month.
I feed my cows grass, vegetation and fruit -- all GMO free. I can't feed them Alfalfa as a supplement
because it was approved for GMO last year or so.
I used to feed my milking goat grain when I milked her to keep her occupied during the process but I
can't with GMO feed, I have to go forage for grass and leaves before each milking. Reducing my ability
to increase my herd.
I don't buy papayas, corn or products with GMO. There is no way for me to tell sometimes whether my
food or the food I give my animals is free from poison because nothing is labeled. This is a struggle that
I have to go through to ensure quality food for myself and my family.
Please do the right thing and stop these people from making money and let us regular people try and
feed ourselves good, quality, GMO-free food.
