Bill 79: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY CODE
1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE
RELATING TO PROHIBITION OF GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS
From Council Member Margaret Wille, dated April 25, 2013. The bill adds a new
article to Chapter 14, General Welfare titled “Genetically Modified (Transgenic)
Organisms Prohibited,” to prohibit the propagation, cultivation, raising, growing, sale
or distribution of transgenic organisms (GMO’s).

(There is a pending motion made by Ms. Wille and duly seconded by Mr. Kanuha to
recommend passage of Bill 79 on first reading; and a pending motion made by
Ms. Wille and duly seconded by Ms. Eoff to amend Bill 79 with the contents of
