Subject: Yes on Bill 79
To Whom It May Concern:
I just returned from Kona on vacation; I enjoyed your lovely island
and the people there .
However, I am VERY concerned about the GMO issue and the use of
pesticides .
PLEASE BAN GMO growth on your island and seek to build local
businesses and local farmers that support pesticide and GMO-free
products !
I am currently getting my PhD in indigenous food security, working
with Native Hawaiians, and GMOs are in stark contrast to Hawaii ' s food
security and health !
I also have visited India and the UK as a journalist in years past and
interviewed farmers, politicians, businessmen, and parliament members
who were opposed to GMOs and pesticide usage .
Please be forward-thinking about Hawai ' i and not make big sacrifices
for short-term gain.
