Subject: In Support of Bill 79 - Ban the growing of GMOs on Hawaii Island
Aloha Hawaii County Council Chair and Members,
Please, before voting on this very important bill, know all the research that is conducted on GMOs, especially the
unbiased research that have been conducted as there are many and recent ones that reveal how bad GMOs really
are. Know that the rest of the world, especially the industrialized countries are taking a cautious approach to GMOs
with many labeling them (currently 64) or have an outright ban on GMOs because of it's uncertainty. Among them
are France and Russia and now Italy seeking to ban GMOs along with them. It is not the research of these GMO
companies and their underhanded paid, biased research by others that these countries consider when making their
decisions to regulate GMOs. You've got to know that these GMO companies have a firm grip on our federal
government allowing for deregulation or self-regulation of GMOs as the FDA takes these companies at their word
with former Monsanto exec., Michael Taylor as the FDA Food Czar. That's why they always quote the FDA to justify
what they do. Why if they claim their products are safe would they conspire secretly to include in the 2013 Farm Bill
the"Monsanto Protection Act,"that would allow them to continue to plant their GMOs even if it would be found to be
dangerous (research this if you haven't yet). They sure don't act like companies that can be trusted. Usually when
one claims to have a great product, that one would put their money where their mouth is by placing a money back
guarantee on it instead of secretly seeking protection by our federal government through a provision that was
sneaked into the Farm Bill. We are seeing it played out now on Kauai with residents suffering ill effects of these
kinds of secretive farming where it's not required for the GMO companies to disclose that they are experimenting
with such chemicals as those used in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Have you seen the defects of the children of
Vietnam still plagued by Monsanto's & Dow's Agent Orange (https://www.google.com/search?

yourselves whether it's worth it to really be taking this kind of gamble, as once you allow them free reign, you will not
be able to easily undo this kind of permission that will have a strong-hold to control whatever it is given permission
to. Please also know that their are counties just like yours in other states and countries that have passed bills to ban
GMOs, so you are not alone. If county ies in California and Washington state are allowed to ban the growing of
GMOs, so should you. Just search these companies histories and you'll find that the information out there doesn't
paint a pretty picture of the way these companies conduct their businesses. Especially in places where they've been
allowed to conduct business haphazardly without regulation, then have to address the damages done after the fact,
even at times to their own employees! Please support Bill 79 with a yes vote to ban the growing of CMOs or you'll be
regretfully wishing you didn't play a deciding roll in opening up this can of worms:
