INA JUL From: Melissa Marra [melmarrll @hotmail.com] 2013 3 Sent: Sunday, July 28, 2013 6:57 AM ff= ZS To: counciltestimony @co.hawaii.hi.us Subject: Bill 79 Dear Council of Hawaii, I have been saving my sky miles for several years to get enough to take a trip to Hawaii, after learning that these islands and surrounding waters are overwhelmingly polluted by Genetically Modified Crops and pesticides I will not be taking that trip. These companies: Monsanto, Syngenta, Dupont-Pioneer, Dow & BASF do not have the people or tourist trade in mind when manufacturing and planting these crops, they could care less about the survival of the human race, only their wallets. I do not buy these products and now will not travel to Hawaii, it has turned into a cesspool of toxins. These crops are destroying your state, city, county and the food change all over the world. Pollinators and accidental pollinating insects are being killed off, this also makes it so birds don't have clean food. These crops are not sustainable, many can't reproduce, nature should not be dependent on manufactured crops and poisons to survive, humans certainly aren't. You may think Hawaii's future is only in your hands but these companies think it is in their's, Yes on Bill #79 is only the beginning of your future. I'm from Michigan, I stand with those against GMOs. Keep Hawaii in the natural, beautiful, clean state that it always has been. Maybe someday I can take that trip to Hawaii but until I and many others know it's a safe and unpolluted environment, we stay away. I also encourage the councils of the other islands to do the same. very sincerely, Melissa Marra, Michigan Comm. N - ( Ref. To: M Ref. Date U 0 2 2013 7/30/2013
