I am writing to express my feelings about GMO foods and the bill you will be voting on in the near future. Before you take my rights away as a Citizen of the United States of America and lifelong resident of the 50th State: I ask you to think hard about what you are about to do and the dangerous precedent you will be setting. I have many friends that refuse to eat GMO foods and that is their right to do so-I however am not convinced that it is bad for my health and want the ability to make that choice. It is not the duty of the government to impede on my rights of choice-whether it is abortion or what I want to put into my body. There are so many important issues affecting our County and it is your duty to address these, not tell me what I can and cannot eat. This decision is truly beyond your scope as a councilperson on the Island of Hawaii, and it should not even have gotten as far as it did! Please do not be swayed by emotionalism and "tin-foil" hat types-look at the enormity of the decision you are making and realize your duty is to represent ALL persons in the county and not the vocal few. Even if you are against GMO foods how would you feel if alternatives were not available to you and the government told you to eat ONLY GMO food???? Mahalo for your consideration of this issue Susan Nalani Rego Comm. N- 2-71(a . 30 R„.c. Rat Date_ . 0 2 201 8/2/2013
