Subject: Please do not restrict biotechnology
Dear Mr.Yoshimoto,
Please do not pass a county bill that will restrict or ban the exploration and use of biotechnology.
In states like Iowa and Hawaii,we are blessed with the opportunity to explore and implement new farming practices and
technologies that allow farmers to produce more safe food and energy for a growing world, while reducing farming's
environmental footprint.
Because of biotechnology, Iowa farmers have been able to grow more while reducing erosion, our need for water and
our use of pesticides and fertilizer.
Ninety percent of corn and nearly 100 percent of soybeans grown in Iowa include some biotech traits. These have been
proven to be safe for our families who work on the farm,the livestock we feed and consumers.
Again, please do not pass a county bill that will restrict biotechnology.
