Subject: Please do not restrict biotechnology
Dear Mr. Yoshimoto,
In states like Iowa and Hawaii, we're blessed with the opportunity to explore and implement new farming practices and
technologies that allow farmers to produce more safe food and energy for a growing world, while reducing farming's
environmental footprint.
Farmers in Iowa have embraced biotechnology's influence in crop production because it has allowed us to grow more
while reducing erosion, reducing our need for water, and reducing our use of pesticides and fertilizer.
We're also proud of the safety of the crops we grow. In Iowa, 90 percent of corn and nearly 100 percent of soybeans
grown include some biotech traits. These crops have proven to be safe for our families who work on the farm, the
livestock we feed, and consumers.
Please do not pass a county bill that will restrict or ban the exploration and use of biotechnology.
Sincerely,
Jerry Wendt
