These nicotine-based insecticides can kill honey bees by infecting their brains with toxins. Nearly 50% of the nation's bee hives were wiped out last year due to a mysterious malady which is likely caused by a certain chemical contained within genetically modified crops (GMO), according to a new report by the New York Times. GMO Papaya and Ringspot Virus value myth: Solving the problem via traditional hybridisation would have cost the Hawaii Papaya Industry dearly, right. Consider the downside to the GMO solution for a mi ute. GMO papayas are inherently weak and have issue fending off molds and other maladies. As a result three to four times the chemical are used to prop up the weak GMO variety. Typically hybrid varieties are quite robust. Further some of the chemicals being used in the GMO papaya fields are probably cause of the Hawaii island bee depletion - no bees means no vegetation. As a 35 year veteran of the marketing industry I can tell you that Japan will not be the only market that takes GMO papayas off their shelves. Please vote to keep Hawaii (Island) safe and prevent further invasion by GMO proliferators.
