Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 114, reports as follows:
Bill No. 114, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 395 dated
August 15, 2013, amends Ordinance No. 13-65, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County of
Hawai`i for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. The amendment is as follows:
From:
010.3308.73 Federal Grants—Distracted Driver Project General $ 12,083
To:
010.201.5216.41 Distracted Driver Project General $ 12,083
These funds will be used to reduce the number of drivers using an electronic mobile device while
operating a motor vehicle and increase the number of electronic mobile device citations.
Officer Tuckloy Aurello appeared before Your Committee for questions. He confirmed that Act 74,
Hawai`i State Law, relating to distracted driving and the use of electronic devices, has passed and is
being recognized in all Hawai`i counties.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 114, and
recommends its passage on first reading.
