RE: Request to hire special counsel for the County of Hawaii in
the matter of the pending bankruptcy proceedings involving N
Hawai'i Outdoor Tours, Inc. %A
Pursuant to Section 6-5.5, Hawai'i County Charter (2012), the Office of
the Corporation Counsel respectfully requests this communication be agendized
for the October 2, 2013, meeting of the Hawai'i County Council.
The Office of the Corporation Counsel requests the Council authorize the
hiring of special counsel to assist Corporation Counsel attorneys in legal matters
related to the pending bankruptcy proceedings involving Hawai'i Outdoor Tours,
Inc.
A contract total of$25,000 is requested.
At present we are not requesting an executive meeting to discuss this
communication and request, but will readily accommodate the Council in the
event it wishes to discuss this matter in closed session.
