Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 126, reports as follows:
Bill No. 126, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 417 dated
August 28, 2013, amends Ordinance No. 13-65, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County of
Hawai`i for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. The amendment is as follows:
From:
010.3304.04 State Grants—Hawai`i County Nutrition Program General $ 90,000
To:
010.481.5483.02 Hawai`i County Nutrition Program General $ 90,000
These funds will be used for the Nutrition Program's home delivered meal services.
Executive Director of Aging Alan Parker appeared before Your Committee for questions. He stated
that Federal funding has been flat. The costs for home delivered meals has recently increased from
$2.97 to $4.75; however, the State legislature, through Act 238 (Home and Community Based
Services; Kapuna Care Program; Elderly Population; Appropriation Relating to Aging), provided an
additional $1.5 million to help with the meal increases statewide.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 126, and
recommends its passage on first reading
