Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication
No. 4148, reports as follows :
The purpose of Communication No . 4148, dated September 15 , 1992, from
the Director of Parks and Recreation, is to request that the Council
accept a Video Projector to be used by Recreation Staff of the South
Kohala and Honokaa districts for programs in their centers . The
Community Youth Activity Program of the Hawaii Island YWCA (Ms . Jo
Ann Hongslo, Program Director, Community Youth Activity Program, and
Ms . Rowie Taylor, Executive Director, Hawaii Island YWCA) has
generously donated the Video Projector valued at $3 , 500 .
Pursuant to Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donation.
The Committee on Finance voiced concerns about donated properties not
being inventoried, therefore, recommends that all future donations be
accepted by resolution.
The Committee on Finance also recommended that the Legislative
Auditor ' s staff draft a standard resolution for accepting donations .
The Committee on Finance recommends that the video projector be
placed into inventory.
Your Committee on Finance recommends acceptance of the donation of
the video projector and that a letter of appreciation be forwarded to
the Directors of the Community Youth Activity Program of the Hawaii
Island YWCA, 688 Kinoole Steet, Suite 220-B, Hilo, Hawaii , 96720 .
