Subject: Support Bill#129
Dear Council Members,
I am writing in support of Brenda Ford' s bill #129, which bans fracking in Hawaii
County. I have worked for a decade with my friends to create a permaculture farm in
Opihikao, close to the area where expanded geothermal is proposed. I take seriously the
health complaints of those who live close to the existing geothermal well, and I oppose
any new geothermal wells until the existing one is run far better, with adequate
oversight. We don't actually know what plans are made for geothermal expansion, but if
there are no plans for fracking, with all its seismic, environmental and health risks,
then there should be no opposition to this measure.
