Subject: Testimony against Bills 109 & 113
Congratulations to Margaret Willie and Brenda Ford for ruining our island and the families and lives of
growers of GMO products. Our island is in a dire predicament because of you two and whoever votes
for this bill. Apparently, it means nothing to you to destroy hard working families trying to make a good
living. At one of the hearings, this guy called himself an "immigrant from the mainland" but I'll just
use the Hawaiian word instead —haole. For heaven sake think of the local people and their lives not
only of the haoles as Brenda Ford and Margaret Willie are doing.
To Brenda Ford—you claim that you're getting "a tremendous amount of pressure from the "anti-GMO
contingency". The majority of the "pressure" is from the haoles and very few of the local people. You
know that! Don't include the locals because it is not in their nature to act that way. The way "the anti-
GMO contingency" acted at the hearings that were held especially at Kona, in your home turf, I thought
was very, very shameful. They were rude, disrespectful, loud, booing. Adults acting like spoiled
children. But I'm sure you and Margaret Willie were very, very happy with their actions because both of
you must've encouraged that.
To Margaret Willie—you must be the source for information given to Rosanne Barr. A person who
makes a stupid comment about chopping down the papaya trees. You are still having her do your work
which is a big, big mistake. Now, Ford how would you feel if somebody chopped your quarter acre of
papayas?
You want people to pay$100 to register to plant GMO products and pay $1000/day fine for violations
and even jail time. You are both ridiculous and crazy. We are not criminals and I say you two are the
criminals for putting up a stupid bill like this.
You say GMO growers must plant in enclosed structures. YOU anti-GMO people should be the ones
doing that and NOT the others. YOU are the ones complaining and YOU are the ones making the most
noise. YOU are the ones who should build buffer zones.
You people claim that GMO causes sickness, cancer and a lot of other things. I have watched the
debates on TV and read what YOUR experts say and NOT ONE OF THEM HAS SAID THAT IT DOES. There
are organisms all around us so get that in your heads. You won't correct your followers who are going
out and spreading these lies. What you people are doing is scaring the Hawaii people. YOU ARE
USING SCARE TACTICS.
You don't even sit down and listen to the expert, who was born and raised in Kohala, of the Rainbow
Papaya but you have your followers go around spreading lies and bad mouthing him. We know him and
we know that he is not one to do something that would harm people. He is an HONEST and GOOD man.
Nothing at all like Ford and Willie and their"anti-GMO contingency". I was born and raised in Kohala
and I take offense by a guy who said he was from Kohala and said in his testimony that the people of
Kohala are against GMO. That is absolutely not true. Only his group of haoles in Kohala are against it.
Time to stop spreading these lies.
I have consumed the Rainbow Papaya for years and consider that and the Sun Up varieties to be the
best papayas out. I will not spend my money on any other. If those papayas are banned then we'll just
have to go without eating papayas.
HAWAII WAS RANKED FIRST IN THE NATION FOR PEOPLE LIVING THE LONGEST. So what does that tell
you? GMOs aren't killing them off.
Years ago someone living on the mainland stated that people here are going to notice the change, for
the bad, in Hawaii when the "haoles" move here. I didn't believe it then but I surely do now.
What's sad is there are the good ones who because of the bad, the anti-GMO supporters, will suffer. I
don't think they deserve that.
