Aloha, Committee members,
Please support Bill #109 to restrict, preferably ban, GMO's on Hawaii.
The jury is still out about the LONG term effects of genetic modification and using deadly
chemicals ON the food and around living creatures on land and in the sea.
BUT THE IMMEDIATE CONSENSUS IS HERE. Many countries have already BANNED
GMO's. Scientists ARE finding evidence of negative impacts of genetic engineering PLUS
pesticide use IN THE FOOD SUPPLY. The two come hand in hand. THIS IS A DOUBLE
WHAMMY to living creatures.
Anthony Samsel and Stephanie Senneff of MIT, in "Glyphosate's Suppression of
Cytochrome P450 Enzymes and Amino Acid Biosynthesis by the Gut Microbiome:
Pathways to Modern Diseases", April 18, 2013 ( http://www.mdpi.com/1099-
4300/15/4/1416/pdf'?y=1 ) have connected the companion spraying of glyphosate on GMO
crops to diseases like Autism!
Kauai school children are becoming mysteriously ill where an adjacent GMO 'farm' sprays
GMO crops with deadly pesticides. These companies are NOT WILLING TO DISCLOSE
to the public amounts they spray; hence a battle for disclosure!
When they are not required to tell what and how much, how are these issues to be resolved??
THERE IS A DOWNHILL TREND IN GMO STOCKS, POPULARITY AND
FEASIBILITY (their deadly chemicals are even creating super weeds which require even
MORE DEADLY chemicals!)
DO YOU WANT TO OPEN THIS PANDORA'S BOX ON HAWAII TOO? PLEASE BE
THE LEADERS WE ARE LOOKING FOR and SHOW THE WORLD WE ARE NOT
BEHOLDEN TO ANYONE.
