To whom it may concern,
I am in opposition of any GMO crops being cultivated on Hawaii Island, even indoor is capable of
escaping. So I trust the guidelines in bill 109 will be able to control any outbreaks and control the wind
drift and contamination of our water supply. I pray any oversight committees will be honest and
diligent.
I am disappointed in Ms. Willie's bill for it appears to give in to the biotech industry and certainly
doesn't give the little bee much support, let alone the organic farmers.
Neither bill gives guidelines for control of the chemicals fertilizers and poisons. It is time to incorporate
such before every honey bee dies.
What if a biotech "farmer" repeatedly violates these guidelines and just buys its way out of fines and
continues to infiltrate the organic farms or pollutes school grounds?
It is time to burn all corn, papaya, etc. and start over. We don't want gmo potatoes, squash, rice, soy
beans nor any other GMO crops grown on our island. Stop mono-crop growing and re-populate the
land with proper enzymes, micro organisms and natural fertilizers.
Please give our children a fighting chance to stay alive and healthy.
