Subject: Testimony Against Bills 109 and 113
Committee Chair Ford and Members of the Committee:
I oppose Bills 109 and 113 because Ford and Willie are abusing their powers, using scare
tactics, using up all the county's money, and not using any brain cells. They have yet
to introduce one single piece of scientific evidence That GMO crops represent ANY kind of
"public safety" nor have anything to do with "mass transit".
Subjective hearsay and anecdotal evidence do not count as scientific proof. This only
represents wasting valuable taxpayer dollars on their own personal agenda.

There is, in fact, scientific and statistical evidence that organic farming, if made the only kind of
farming in the world, would in fact destroy the planet. There is also many recent cases of
organic products harming or killing consumers. Why is a ban on organic farming on the big
island not on the agenda for the council? Don't let me tell you, let a Nobel Laureate:
As a result, the argument goes. a world dependent on organic farming would have to farm more land than it does
today-even if it meant less pollution, fewer abused farm animals: and fewer carcinogenic residues on our
vegetables. "We aren't going to feed 6 billion people with organic fertilizer," said Nobel Prize-winning plant breeder
Norman Borlaug. "If we tried to do it,we would level most of our forest and many of those lands would be productive
° only for a short period of time,"
Cambridge chemist John Emsley put it more bluntly: "The greatest catastrophe that the human race could face this
century is not global warming but a global conversion to'organic farming'-an estimated 2 billion people would
perish.'
If I had the power, I would request a vote of no confidence on these two
incompetent council members. I am not in their districts, but they are wasting my money and
my council member's time just the same. I will be campaigning hard for whoever runs against
these two mentally deficient "public servants". That is my only recourse against this level of
abuse of power and ignorance.
