Re: Operating Budget
Hawai`i Energy, the State of Hawai`i's energy conservation and efficiency program is providing
an additional funding of$10,888 to the Department of Public Works (DPW), to be used towards
future energy savings efforts by DPW's Traffic Division.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the
additional funds into the Department's LED Light Rebate Program account and bringing the total
grant appropriation to $55,000.

A. REQUEST:
An ordinance amending Ordinance 13-65
To accept and acknowledge energy rebate increase from $44,112.00 to the amount of$55,000.00 from
Hawai'i Energy. This energy savings is a result of street light conversions from Low Pressure Sodium (LPS)
to Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) in FY 2012-2013. This Hawai'i Energy rebate will be used towards future
energy savings efforts.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept rebate of$55,000.00 to be used towards future energy savings
efforts by the Department of Public Works, Traffic Division. This rebate is being received from Hawaii
Energy 1132 Bishop Street, Suite 1800 Honolulu, Hi. 96813.
