Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year, for a
new three year multi-year lease agreement, for one hundred mobile data terminals. These units
will be placed in various officer's vehicles throughout Hawai`i Island to allow them to file
reports when not in the vicinity of their station.

A. REQUEST:
To enter into a multi-year lease agreement for three (3) years for one hundred (100) Mobile Data Terminal to
be used in various locations throughout the island.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Police Department would like to obtain a 3 year lease for one hundred (100) mobile data terminals (MDT)
to be placed in various officer's vehicles throughout the County. Leasing of the MDTs will give the officers
immediate access to the data base to check warrants, TROs, and prior arrest information. Immediate access
to this type of information will also improve safety to the officers who are out patroling. The MDT's will save
the officers time by allowing the officers to file reports when they are away from the station and more visible
to the public.
