Subject: Bill 129 banning hydraulic fracturing
Hawaii County Council Members:
I am writing to express my support for Bill 129 banning hydraulic fracturing (Enhanced Geothermal Systems)
in Hawaii County. I live south of Pahoa off Highway 130 in an agricultural area where geothermal development
is proposed. In fact, drilling would occur within 500 feet of my home ie: in my backyard. There are numerous
geologic and health risks from fracking as evidenced on the mainland US and in foreign countries. We need to
save our beautiful Hawaiian environment and the health of people who live here today as well as preserve the
land and environment for future generations.
Thank you for your support in banning fracking in Hawaii County.
