RE: County Glass Recycling Audit
Aloha Councilman Yagong:
It has been quite some time now since the findings of the audit have been completed.
It is our concern that the major discrepancies that were uncovered with respects to the
glass recycling activities of Recycling Systems are simply being swept under the rug so
as not to bring further embarassment to the County of Hawaii and the Department of
Public Works (DPW) specifically.
We have patiently been waiting for some type of response from your office so that this
matter can be put to rest and that the apparent fraud and mismanagement that was
uncovered by the audk will be dealt with in a manner that equals Recycling System's
and the DPW's gross misconduct.
We have on several occassions been told that this matter will shortly be brought to
some conclusion. It is our hope that you will immediately remedy the situation and that
you will keep us informed as to any activities associated with this matter.
