SUBJECT: Bees Presentation
I request 45 minutes to allow Danielle Downey, Apiculture Specialist with the Hawai`i
Department of Agriculture, to head up an overview presentation and discussion on the health of
the Hawai`i Island bee population. The scope of the presentation and discussion will include the
history of honey bees on this island; industry size, production and pollination; recent changes
and threats to the industry; and services available to beekeepers through the Department of
Agriculture.
Please place this matter on the appropriate November 19, 2013 Committee agenda.
