Your Committee on Public Works to which was referred Resolution
/No . 455-88 , reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No . 455-88 is to request the Chief Engineer
to investigate the possibility of extending Kalani Street to the
Queen Kaahumanu Highway, in Kailua-Kona as a way of easing traffic
congestion on Kalani Street in the Lono Kona subdivision .
Your Committee understands that Kalani Street is a County road that
intersects with a County highway ( Kuakini Highway ) . Kalani Street
stops just short of the Queen Kaahumanu Highway, which is a State
Highway and controlled access road .
Your Committee finds that a report from the Chief Engineer on the
possibility of extending Kalani Street to the Queen Kaahumanu Highway
would assist in the decision making process -of how to deal with the
traffic congestion .
Your Committee on Public Works is in accord with the purpose of
Resolution No . 455-88 and recommends its adoption by the County
Council .
