Your Committee on Public Works to which was referred Communication
-'No . 1526 and its attached Bill No . 508, reports as follows:
Bill 508 proposes to amend the Hawaii County Code 1983, Chapter 24,
Article 10, Section 24-276( f) , Schedule 24, Crosswalks, by adding
Alii Drive in front of the Kona Alii Condominium.
The purpose of the bill is to create a crosswalk by the newly
constructed wheelchair ramp in front of the Kona Alii Condominium.
Your Committee on Public Works has reviewed Bill 508 and
Communication 1526 from the Chief Engineer and understands that the
bill is needed to authorize the Traffic Division to install signs and
crosswalk markings on Alii Drive by the Kona Alii Condominium ' s new
wheelchair ramp which was constructed at no cost to the County.
Your Committee is aware that on October 30 , 1987 in Communication
1057 .1 the Chief Engineer assured the Kona Alii Condominium that the
County would install and maintain crosswalk and appropriate warning
signs if Kona Alii Condominium met certain conditions regarding its
wheelchair ramp.
Draft 2 changes the plural Kona-Alii Condominiums to the correct
singular form, Kona Alii Condomium and corrects a capitalization typo
in Section 3 of the bill .
Your Committee on Public Works is in accord with the intent of Bill
No . 508 Draft 2 (which was inadvertently referred to as Draft 1 just
before the vote ) and recommends its passage • irst reading by the
County Council .
