Your Committee on Public Works to which was referred Communication
-No. 1166 and its attached Bill No. 383 , reports as follows:
Bill 383 proposes to amend Chapter 24 , Article 10 , Division 1 ,
Section 24-257, paragraph 31 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 relating
to 35 mile per hour speed limit zones . The present code providing
for a 35 mph zone on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11 ) , from a point
approximately 1 .1 miles east of the South Point Road, to a point
approximately 0 .2 mile on the Naalehu side of the sixty-three mile
post is being shortened by 1 mile or to a point 0 .2 mile on the
Naalehu side of the sixty-four mile post .
Your Committee on Public Works has reviewed Bill 383 and is in accord
with its purpose . Your Committee has noted an incorrect description
in Bill 383 and has amended it by replacing the description "north of
the South Point Road" to "east of the South Point Road" .
Your Committee on Public Works recommends passage of Bill No . 383,
Draft 2, on first reading by the County Council .
