Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Resolution No. 199-13,
reports as follows:
Resolution No. 199-13, transmitted by Public Works Director Warren Lee, via Communication No. 479
dated October 10, 2013, grants a variance from Chapter 3-58(a)(5)(B), 3-58(c), and 3-59(a)(4) of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), to allow one wall sign on 75-1000 Henry
Street, TMK Number (3)7-5-004:058 (Zoned "U" CG-20, Kailua Village Special Design District).
Council Member Karen Eoff asked the applicant how the sign variance application is going to look in
both appearance and size in relation to the existing signage already on the building.
Applicant Jerry Anderson stated that the sign will have the same color as the current sign on the building
to maintain uniformity. The size of the sign variance requested will be about half or less than half the
size of the previous Borders sign, which is slightly bigger than the current Coldwell Banker sign to
allow people to read the sign more clearly.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Resolution No. 199-13, and recommends its adoption.
