About GMO,you now have the honor and the responsibility to determine policy that will effect Hawai'i agriculture forevermore.
This industry claims to understand how genes work. Don't believe them! The workings of DNA is nature's most complex miracle,and
what proteins a plant or animal makes changes continuously according to a myriad of factors including environment,diet,and life cycle

best information.The precautionary principle must be forced upon this technology;"Generally Regarded As Safe"and"Substantial
Equivalence"are falsehoods concocted by the likes of Michael Taylor at the FDA;his previous job was with Monsanto. This stuff is
fundamentally different and dangerous! No open-air research at the U of H or CTAHR should be allowed!
The gene in starlink corn that killed people eating tortillas back in the 90s was found this year in corn in Saudi Arabia.

All this for what? The Union of Concerned Scientists analyzed GE's 20 years and concluded quote
genetic engineering has actually done very little to increase the yields of food and feed crops. Given such a track
record, it appears unlikely that this technology will play a leading role in helping the world feed itself in the foreseeable
future.

Sustainable agriculture and eco-tourism are the most healthy and economically viable long-term options for our
Island's natural beauty and agricultural lands and keeping dollars at home. Stand firm against the last gasps of these
dying GE technologies, the paltry handouts they offer aren't worth it.
Vote yes for Bill 113. Vote yes for a corn sunset amendment. Vote no for the research and papaya registration
