I have found that the vast majority of those of us in Puna, which you represent, are opposed to GMO farming on Hawaii island, and am shocked that you have not been in support of this bill that would help to protect our island. Most of the world is becoming increasingly aware of the long term risks of GMO farming, and it is now banned in several countries. Aside from the GMO papaya farming (and geothermal issues), Hawaii is one of the cleanest and purest places left in the US, and in the world. Why would you want to allow this stain upon our island? GMO is proven to have long term health risks, and naturopaths who have placed patients on non-GMO diets have seen significant results in chronic illness dissipating or being cured altogether. In time, we will see irrefutable evidence that GMO foods play a huge role in the startling increase in chronic illnesses over the past few decades. I urge you to change your stance on this bill and to support Bill 113 so that we may prohibit further GMO crops from our island. Thank you, Jaye Kahealani Comm. No, 3 93. /-24/ Ref.To P/Co ten / Ref.Date U1 1 15 2013 10/14/2013
