Aloha Council Members,
Several questions came up in the course of the recent hearings on Bill 113 that some of you
needed further explanations about, especially in light of your upcoming hearing on October
15th
This important and well-made documentary is about the landmark struggles of real farmers
and the communities that they have lived in for generations that have experienced, and nearly
been ruined, by the very issues you are grappling with relative to adopting Bill 113.
Just some of the issues discussed in this documentary:
• GMO cross transfers (cross pollination via wind, pollinator insects, equipment)
• Co-existance with non-GMO farming practices
• Current widespread takeover of GMO's in US and Canada
• Legal liability for non-GMO farmers and landmark Monsanto court cases in US and
Canada
• Intimidation and harassment of farmers by Monsanto and other seed/chemical
companies
• Destruction of the farming communities across North America due to organized mistrust
• Lack of safety of Round-up used in conjunction with GMO "Round-up Ready" GMO
crops
I feel this is a "must watch" for any person empowered to represent the health
and welfare of 180,000 people on Hawaii Island.
