Subject: Please Vote FOR Bill 113
Esteemed Council:
Please vote in support of Bill 113. This is a fair Bill for all, which allows Big Island citizens
and government to exercise caution while exploring the appropriateness of GMO
agriculture for the Big Island.
Caution is called for in a situation such as this, where there is "no going back" once
GMO's are introduced into the environment ... and where what happens on any part of
our interconnected island affects the rest of the island.
We urge the Council to pass Bill 113 immediately.
We appreciate the time and deliberation the Council has taken so far with considering
the GMO question from all angles and hope the careful consideration will continue in an
ad hoc committee -- after Bill 113 is passed; it is an issue outside of the ordinary and
with implications extending far into the future ... deserving of thorough and ongoing
attention.
