Subject: support Bill 113
Aloha Council members,
Many of us were so proud of our County Council back when they voted 9-0 to
protect our coffee and kalo from GMO experimentation. We now look to our
current council to pass a timely bill stopping much of the GMO debacle here before
our island goes the way of Molokai, Oahu, and Kauai. If you don't already know
what has happened there, please take the time to hear the complaints. By taking a
stand against reckless GMO agriculture, Hawaii island will reiterate to the world why
it is known as proud moku o Keawe.
Genetic engineering is a technology but it is far from a science. CMOs and
Fukushima have taught us that most financially or politically imposed technology
(known as technocracy) operates unscientifically, far from equilibrium. People who
unfortunately accepted the GMO lies, such as the Indian farmers, or the absurd
nuclear power plant lies, such as residents of Fukushima, have much to regret from
their naive technical experiments in magical thinking. A growing global consensus
has finally identified GMO technology as the number one culprit threatening the
future of food and imperiling the soils and seeds that grow food.
One thing is clear, there is no enduring future in GMO technology. GMOs are a
promise to pay without any collateral. They subsist in the economy solely by
intimidation, disinformation, and political corruption. To back the failed GMO
mirage now would be to bet the farm on an absurd pack of lies about production,
security and profit. GMOs have never been clinically tested on humans...because
everyone knows what the results would show. The GMO pushers don't want
people to choose healthy food so they continue to fight against labelling with their
corporate treasure chests. When it is too late to stop their vile contamination, they
only want to talk about enforcing their shaky patents at the expense of their
unfortunate victims. We have already taken too many steps down that road to
nowhere. Let's put a stop to this racket here and now. Voting yes on this bill could
be a solid step in the direction of our humble island's food sovereignty, public
health, and self esteem.
Mahalo for the Council's work on these bills. It is time to honor our past and
protect our future. Vote yes on Bill 113.
