STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 229 13 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND <br /> DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD A GRANT TO REDEEMING LIGHT <br /> INTERNATIONAL, INCORPORATED <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 to nonprofit <br /> organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and <br /> the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution.; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County Code <br /> states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than profit- <br /> making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the Internal <br /> Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, Department of Research and Development wishes to provide a <br /> grant of$30,000 to Redeeming Light International, Incorporated; and <br /> WHEREAS, Redeeming Light International, Incorporated qualifies as a nonprofit <br /> organization as defined above; and <br /> WHEREAS, this award is a result of a competitive selection process for the <br /> Hawaii Tourism Authority's County Product Enrichment Program funds; and, <br /> WHEREAS, funds will be used for the Big Island Film Festival at the Fairmont <br /> Orchid; now, therefore, <br />
