STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 229 13 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD A GRANT TO REDEEMING LIGHT INTERNATIONAL, INCORPORATED WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution.; and WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than profit- making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the Internal Revenue Code; and WHEREAS, Department of Research and Development wishes to provide a grant of$30,000 to Redeeming Light International, Incorporated; and WHEREAS, Redeeming Light International, Incorporated qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined above; and WHEREAS, this award is a result of a competitive selection process for the Hawaii Tourism Authority's County Product Enrichment Program funds; and, WHEREAS, funds will be used for the Big Island Film Festival at the Fairmont Orchid; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai'i County Code, the Department of Research and Development is authorized to provide a grant of $30,000 to Redeeming Light International, Incorporated for the Big Island Film Festival. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department, and the Department of Research and Development.
