Subject: Pass Bill 113
My name is Geoff Shaw and I live in Puna in District 5. I support Bill 113 even though it is not perfect
from my perspective but it is a great start in transforming the Island of Hawaii into a self sufficient
community once again. I feel for the farmers but I honestly believe that once they understand how many
sensible people distrust the GMO technology they will come around to growing food for all of us. Many
consumers, both locally and elsewhere are trying to avoid GMOs and if we can provide that large niche
with that product it will be a start to a vibrant agriculture in this area. I think you would be hard pressed
to find any consumers that would seek out GMO products and reject non GMO so if that seems to be
logical to you then I suggest you pass Bill 113. Let's grow food for all, let's grow non-GMO.
