Serfling Williams[hlw @hawaii.edu] 20]3 NOV -4 All II: 58 Sent: Monday, November 04, 2013 10:19 AM To: counciltestimony @co.hawaii.hi.us Subject: GMO BILL 113 YES Written Public Testimony: Written public testimony is due before 12:00 noon on MONDAY 11/4. The Office of the County Clerk will accept receipt of your written public testimony by mail to the Office of the County Clerk at 25 Aupuni Street. Hilo, HI 96720, by facsimile to (808) 961-8912; or by e-mail to counciltestimony(c),co.hawaii.hi.us GMO #Bill 1 13 VOTE YES I live on the island of Molokai, everyday the toxicity of GMOs negatively affect me. My young child is also negatively affected. I am unable to protect him in Hawaii. The open fields that were once covered in grass are now bare red dirt cycling the year-round GMO crops, choking and circling the organic farms, homes, and community. The red dirt flies through the air. This toxic dust contaminates our air, land and water. There are many proven studies now that show the harmful effects of these chemicals the GMO companies are using. Everyday I wonder if my son will develop conditions that will affect his entire life like reproductive harm, cancer, asthma and more. More countries continue to ban GMO, it is shameful the USA is leading this destruction. When we have no land, air and water, we have nothing. Hawaii is being poisoned. The island (Molokai) with the most indigenous people is being secretly and systematically poisoned. Hawai'i is the international research lab of Monsanto, Dow, Dupont/Pioneer, Syngenta and BASF. These companies are poisoning our 'aina and our future. These companies have a long history of creating products and then denying product liability while their victims and the environment suffer. Our water and land have not been tested. Hawaii cannot continue to be poisoned with these chemicals. We need a chemical-free Hawaii. It was once this way and it is possible again. Hawai'i was self-sufficient and was able to grow enough food for 1,000,000 people living an organic chemical-free Hawaii. Please, understand the dire need to stop GMO in all of Hawaii and vote YES GMO BILL 113 Thank You, Heather Williams hlw(a/hawaii.edu 393 3/7 Comm. No. Ref. To: de/C014 n G// Ref.
