Subject: Testimony against Bill 135 - Raise the Age of Tobacco Products to 21
Dear Hawaii County Members,
I am writing to convey my opposition to Bill 135.
While I appreciate that tobacco use is harmful to people's health, I also feel that young adults have the
ability and responsibility to make their own decisions. Removing this choice will only delay their social
development and sense of responsibility, and I fear for the repercussions of such a delay.
Additionally, our society allows 18-year-olds to serve in the military and vote for our elected leaders.
They should also be allowed to make their own decisions regarding their lifestyle and health choices.
Please vote against Bill 135. Thank you.
