Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawai`i Department of the Attorney General, Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance Division is providing $65,200 of federally derived funds to the Hawai`i County Police
Department to support their program to train their investigative personnel in their Criminal
Investigation Division. They anticipate that this training will increase the prosecution success rate
for murder and other serious violent crimes in Hawai`i County.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawai`i
Department of the Attorney General for this grant. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance
amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $65,200 grant award.

The State Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division is providing
a grant to improve Hawaii County's ability to increase the prosecution success rate for murder and other
serious violent crimes in Hawaii County. This will be accomplished by providing training to investigative
personnel in the Criminal Investigation Division.
