Subject: Support Bill 135--Raise the Age of Sale of Tobacco Products to 21
Dear Hawaii County Council Members,
I strongly support Bill 135, raising the age of sale of tobacco products to 21.
I am a peer educator from Baldwin High School and I think using tobacco products has been
a big problem in Hawaii. The advertisement and portrayal of these products are so
effective against teenagers, more teenagers want it. All teenagers know someone who has
tried or have even tried tobacco products themselves before the age of 18 . If the age to
purchase tobacco products is raised, I think that the amount of tobacco use will be
significantly reduced.
