Your Committee on Public Works, to which was referred
/Communication 748 , and its attached Bill 244 , reports as follows :
The purpose of Bill 244 is to amend Chapter 24 , Article 10 ,
Division 3 , Section 24-275 , Schedule 23 of the Hawaii County Code
1983 relating to bus stop locations by deleting three designated bus
stop locations in Hilo. These designated bus stops--the first on
Kilauea Avenue, mauka side and in the vicinity of the Hawaii County
Employees Credit Union; a second on Pauahi Street, Hamakua side and
in the vicinity of the Bank of Hawaii ; and a third, on Waianuenue
Avenue, Hamakua side and in the vicinity of the Hilo Downtown Post
Office--are no longer needed by the County Mass Transportation
Agency due to low passenger activity and changes in bus routing .
Your Committee on Public Works is in accord with the purpose of
Bill 244 and recommends its passage on first reading by the County
Council .
