Your Committee on Public Works, to which was referred
"Communication 714 and it attached Bill 232 , report as follows :
The purpose of Bill 232 is to amend Chapter 24, Article 10,
Section 24-280(d ) , Schedule 28 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 and
create a "No Parking Anytime" zone on the mauka side of Kuakini
Highway between Palani Road and the Old Kona Airport .
Your Committee has been advised by Communication 714 that the
proposed "No Parking Anytime" zone is being established to improve
sight distances and reduce congestion during sporting events. Your
Committee has requested that the Department of Public Works seek
additional comments on this proposal from the Kailua Village
Special District and Urban Design Review Commission. Your Committee
would like to review their comments prior to final passage of Bill
232 .
Your Committee on Public Works is in accord with the purpose of
Bill 232 and recommends its passage on first reading by the County
Council. Your Committee also recommends that Bill 232 be referred
back to the Committee on Public Works prior to its final reading by
the County Council .
