Your Committee on Public Works, to which was referred
Communication 696 and its attached Bill 226 , reports as follows :
The purpose of Communication 696 and Bill 226 is the amendment of
Chapter 24, Article 7 , Division 1 , Section 24-145 , paragraph (d ) to
reflect the use of the current edition of the "Manual on Uniform
Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways " (MUTCD ) as a
reference to and a part of the Hawaii County Code of 1983.
Your Committee has found that Bill 226 needs to be more specific in
its identification of the MUTCD. Your Committee has therefore
amended Bill 226 by identifying the current edition of the MUTCD to
be the 1978 edition, as revised.
Your Committee concurs with the purpose of Bill 226 as amended and
recommends the passage of Bill 226, Draft 2 , on first reading by the
County Council.
