Lai , Chairwoman and Members Committee on Public Works Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Subcommittee on Beautification, to which was referred Communication 671 and its attached Bill 218, reports as follows : Bill 218 is a proposed amendment to the Hawaii County Code of 1983, relating to advertising and signs in the Kailua Village, which was drafted and submitted by the Legislative Auditor 's Office pursuant to the request of the Subcommittee on Beautification and the guidance of its Chairman. Its purpose is to provide for more control over the use of temporary signs in the Kailua Village. It is intended with the passage of this bill, that temporary signs be displayed for a period not to exceed thirty calendar days in a calendar year. Bill 218 also provides for a permit process for temporary signs and its regulation. Bill 218 establishes a permit fee for temporary sign permit applications. Finally, Bill 218 increases the existing sign permit application fee to $20. The Subcommittee on Beautification concurs with the purpose and intent of Bill 218 and recommends the adoption of Bill 218 by the County Council . a RO: 'T N.
