Your Committee on Public Works, to which was referred
'Communication 664 and its attached Bill 213 , reports as follows :
The purpose of Communication 664 and Bill 213 is to amend
Chapter 22, Article 3, of the Hawaii County Code of 1983 by
increasing the permit fees for the issuance and processing of
permits for the excavation of public streets and sidewalks and for
driveway permits . Bill 213 proposes language amending both
Section 22-47 and Section 22-61 of Chapter 22 to accomplish this
purpose .
Your Committee, has been advised by Communication 664 and Bill 213,
that the present rates for the issuance and processing of these
permits have been fixed since 1947. Your Committee recognizes that
this County 's cost to issue and process these permits has increased
and believes that the proposed increases are acceptable. The
present estimated cost to process these permits is t48 for the
excavation of streets and t25 for driveway permits .
Your Committee on Public Works is in accord with the purpose of
Bill 213 and recommends its passage on first reading by the County
Council .
