Subject: Pending Bill 129
To Members of the County Council,
Please PASS Bill 129. This is very needed legislation. As a retired physician I can tell
you that the health risks are very major and real. A moratorium on all fracting should
be in place BEFORE any additional support or approval is given to the geothermal industry.
SAFETY first. And please include a provision so that all the companies involved with
geothermal be held ACCOUNTABLE for any degradation of heath and negative financial impact
to the people of Puna. If I am financially liable for restitution for any damage to my
neighbors health or property through my actions, so should the Geothermal industry.
The US Supreme Court stated that corporations should be treated like individuals. And
that includes real responsibility for any negative impact their industry has on people and
their property.
